Well, how has my last 18 days or so been? Well, Dad had an interview for a job 3 Thursdays ago - Mom went with him.  Unfortunately, they picked somebody else.

Saturday before last (the 19th), me, my Mom, my sister, and one of my younger cousins went to Nim's Island. Was a VERY good movie.  Worth paying full price at the movie theater for.  Went to a fun dance after that!

We ended up buying 14 movies Wednesday before last - with a $5/movie deal, why not?  We finally got copies of The Seeker, Unaccompanied Minors, Beauty and the Beast, The Home Teachers, and a bunch of others.

Went to a good fireside Sunday the 20th - should add the CD she makes to my wishlist if I can find it.

We moved our stuff from Okinawa into a storage unit for now... (did that a few week ago.)  LONG job...  Now we're waiting for the stuff we stored when we moved TO Okinawa that the Air Force has been storing to be shipped to us... It's been requested.  We're going to need to borrow a semi to move wherever we go - and then have a big-time garage sale!

I ended up getting enough Pepsi points from my family to pick out a song to download a few weeks ago - the song I'm listening to is it.

We're worried about my sister - she's been feeling nauseous for the past few weeks... I have my suspicions, but we'll have to take her to the doctor tomorrow and have her go through the tests to find out for sure - and she ISN'T going to like them!.

Speaking of doctors, I've made an appointment - it's in two weeks from today.  Had to go and get some blood work done last week so I can get my medications prescribed - I'm picking up the second one today.

AI news the last few weeks, Jason needed to go, Brooke didn't, at least not the week she did.  (Her version of "I Am... I Said" was VERY good.)  I've put her first album on the wishlist!)  My guess for next week?  Sayesha, of course.  Jason was the only one I could see surprising David Cook this week.  (Of course, the other David is unstoppable!)

Other than that, same old, same old.  We may be here for the summer while Dad takes a temporary job in Missouri.  We'll have to see.

Well, I'm at Grandma's house. Got here last night, and all I wanted to do was go to sleep - not too surprising considering how long the trip was. The cat got to go down in the hold all the way to LA - then I had to take her out of the kennel at LA in order to go through security - as I told my mom, I put her back in quick just to make sure that she didn't run off on me! She stopped yowling at us two hours after that — It was like "You put me back IN here? Aren't you ever going to let me out?" She rode with us from LA to Salt Lake - and quietly, too! We were pretty surprised!

The China Airlines flight across the Pacific had a LOT of movies available (15-20) - I was surprised. I watched "The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising" and really liked it, watched the first part of Sydney White that I had missed, played some sudoku puzzles and slept and listened to music (had a lot of music available on the seat back screen, too) on that flight. We had lots of time to transfer - we set ourselves up with good amounts of time, just in case anything happened.

The one issue we had on the way was that I had misplaced my passport for a few minutes at the security gate at LA as I was re-checking in - I accidentally handed them my brother's because I had somehow gotten ahold of his - don't ask me how. They handed me his boarding pass (my brother was carrying both passes at that point), and then when they checked his military ID against my boarding pass and it din't match names, they got confused for a second. Took a bit to realize I had put MY passport (the only unexpired ID I have) in my carry-on and get it out and get things straight. Apparently TSA doesn't look at faces all that closely. :)

I roller skated to your door at daylight
It almost seems like you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you got something I need...

Well, I'm at the airport in Taipei. I'll have to board in a half hour, but I'm FINALLY going to the States!

The morning was BUSY with a capital B. Should have checked the phone card access number for Taiwan. Doing it now.

More later.

Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far,
For somebody who don't drive,
I been all around the world...

(Yes, the original version of this song is older than I am...)

Well, one day left now... Thursday at noon is it!

What's going on?

  • I had my last doctor appointment here yesterday.

  • I've been working on Dad's website (I've got one more page I want to do before I stop until after the flight.  Spelling corrections, updating pages to use css file, etc...)

  • I returned most of my library books today, along with a lot of other stuff related to moving out. More to do tomorrow.

  • I've packed one suitcase. I'll be working on the second one tomorrow.

So tell me...
Will you ever feel peace inside?
Will you some day feel complete?
Will you ever be at ease in life?
Or will you run eternally?

Well, I'm finally done with the last computer job.

6 days and counting - next Thursday I get to fly out of here...

Did I mention that one of our cats is going to be yowling the whole way with us?  (she's in a carry-on container that's just her size - for about 20+ hours! Not our idea of fun!

Today we had a lot of places to go - I still haven't gone to everything I need to.  Tomorrow, we have one last flea market before I leave.

Time to clean off the computer desk!

Well, here's a few things going on...

Yesterday I helped my Mom out with a flea market (we're trying to get some of our stuff sold so we don't have to move it...)

I had a computer job Saturday afternoon, and two more on Monday - I'll have some spending money for the trip.  Just gotta get the other things done that need done, too.  I only have 11 full days left!

We have the flights set up for me and my brother:

CI  121 OKA-TPE 11:55am - 12:30pm [ 1 hour  35 minutes,  -1 hour  TZ change] (4 hours 10 minutes at TPE)
CI    6 TPE-LAX  4:40pm - 12:05pm [11 hours 25 minutes, -16 hours TZ change] (5 hours 10 minutes at LAX)
DL 1046 LAX-SLC  5:15pm -  8:06pm [ 1 hour  51 minutes,  +1 hour  TZ change]

We're having to get one of our cats set up to go now, because it's easiest to take the cat under the seat as a carry-on, instead of checking the dog in (We can't guarantee that we'll be able to check the dog's kennel in at LAX)

When I've been out walking, I've stopped a few places - just for curiosity's sake, here are the receipts!

2 pictures... )

And here's my Gaijin card. I just got it last week.

And here's a few fun quotes I've found...

I don't recall where I found this one.  [info]varrin, maybe?

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.
  —Thomas Jefferson

Thank [info]keene_edi for this quote... It SO applies to me!

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking, if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.

Well, I now know when I'm leaving Okinawa... I leave around noon on February 7th - get to Los Angeles at about the same time, and then fly to Salt Lake (I don't know when I'm getting in to Salt Lake yet...) Doing the China Airlines thing again.  They happen to have the most crowded planes I've ever been on - if you are "of a size" (I'm not quite that big), I wouldn't fly on their planes!

We're working on the paperwork to get my family's dog through the airport in Taiwan... well, such is life.

I've been feeling sick the past few days... no worries, just a cold.  They don't tend to go away fast for me!

Thanks, [info]phinnia!
