  1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
  2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
  3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Well, how has my last 18 days or so been? Well, Dad had an interview for a job 3 Thursdays ago - Mom went with him.  Unfortunately, they picked somebody else.

Saturday before last (the 19th), me, my Mom, my sister, and one of my younger cousins went to Nim's Island. Was a VERY good movie.  Worth paying full price at the movie theater for.  Went to a fun dance after that!

We ended up buying 14 movies Wednesday before last - with a $5/movie deal, why not?  We finally got copies of The Seeker, Unaccompanied Minors, Beauty and the Beast, The Home Teachers, and a bunch of others.

Went to a good fireside Sunday the 20th - should add the CD she makes to my wishlist if I can find it.

We moved our stuff from Okinawa into a storage unit for now... (did that a few week ago.)  LONG job...  Now we're waiting for the stuff we stored when we moved TO Okinawa that the Air Force has been storing to be shipped to us... It's been requested.  We're going to need to borrow a semi to move wherever we go - and then have a big-time garage sale!

I ended up getting enough Pepsi points from my family to pick out a song to download a few weeks ago - the song I'm listening to is it.

We're worried about my sister - she's been feeling nauseous for the past few weeks... I have my suspicions, but we'll have to take her to the doctor tomorrow and have her go through the tests to find out for sure - and she ISN'T going to like them!.

Speaking of doctors, I've made an appointment - it's in two weeks from today.  Had to go and get some blood work done last week so I can get my medications prescribed - I'm picking up the second one today.

AI news the last few weeks, Jason needed to go, Brooke didn't, at least not the week she did.  (Her version of "I Am... I Said" was VERY good.)  I've put her first album on the wishlist!)  My guess for next week?  Sayesha, of course.  Jason was the only one I could see surprising David Cook this week.  (Of course, the other David is unstoppable!)

Other than that, same old, same old.  We may be here for the summer while Dad takes a temporary job in Missouri.  We'll have to see.

Let's see, General Conference. If you're puzzled, just wait, I'll explain under the cut.

Early Saturday morning, my sister, mother, and older brother drove down to Salt Lake (we had gotten tickets the day before) for the general sessions, while I woke up later and got driven to my aunt's house at 10am to watch it on Channel 5... unfortunately, a stop on the way took 20 minutes more than planned (everybody must have been at home, watching!) so we didn't get there until after the solemn assembly was over, and they were sustaining the Seventies.

I liked Sister Lant's talk on traditions, as well as when Elder Wirthlin said, I am aware of no sign on the door reading ‘Restricted Entrance: Perfect People Only’. That was just the best quote of that session!

Saturday afternoon I was getting a little tired, and my father wanted me to do something on the computer, so I didn't see as much of the session as I would have liked. I did wake up for Elder Scott's talk about sexual abuse... talk about an example of kindly ripping into people! (Not that it doesn't need done with the people who commit those type of crimes!)

After that, I ran back to my grandmother's house, because my white shirt and tie were there, so I could get dressed to watch the broadcast of Priesthood session at the Fielding stake center. (Priesthood session is not broadcast over public TV or on the Internet - only through the Church's sattelite system.) I DO have to admit that my favorite memory of this conference (other than actually attending the Sunday morning session) will be of President Monson wiggling his ears in Priesthood session as he talked about following good examples!

Sunday, I got up EARLY... because I was going to go down to the Conference Center to see conference myself, along with my mom and sister! We got there at about 8:40, and we were able to watch the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast at 9:30 before conference. Conference started 2 minutes after the broadcast ended...

Qoutes from my notes that I particularly liked:

Pres. Uchtdorf: The faith of our Father in Heaven has been consistent.
Sis. Tanner: To nurture is to teach.
Pres. Packer, quoting Pres. Kimball: We hold the real keys, and we use them every day.
Pres. Monson: Take literally the Lord's invitation, "Come unto Me."

I got to see my brother after Conference. That was nice. If we're living in the area (within 2 states away or so) we may do it again next Conference. It was fun to see him - he HAS lost weight!

My mother was getting tired, so we didn't see Sunday afternoon (even though we had tickets to it) - we gave them away. We ended up driving home. I'll watch it soon.

Glossary of strange vocabulary for my non-LDS Church readers... )

As for my Sunday (I know, it's Wednesday already...) the combined Relief Society and Priesthood lesson was taken from the broadcast on Building a Righteous Posterity this last February. It was quite the interesting lesson. Someday...

Dad is fishing for job opportunities, and some of them are biting back... My sister would finish school here, but we'd be moving either after that or sooner. I'm hoping he gets the job that's currently bitng back! We'd be within 12 hours driving of most of the family, the place has a good library (I read a lot) and bus system (I don't drive, either)... it'd be perfect for me!

Dad also had to have hernia surgery yesterday... he's doing well.

Got this video e-mailed to me last Saturday - I remember hearing about it 10 years ago - haven't checked on the Carlson Septuplets site in a while. Maybe I should.
