Happy birthday, [info]lasunshine!

I was sick earlier today, so I missed the training on the new microfilm reader/scanner the Family History Library got... %^&*#%^%* flares! Won't eat strawberry rhubarb pie again! such is life... but I'm better now (it was a quickie flare, I'll be able to go to church tomorrow.

Well, yesterday was busy, to say the least. Today was my volunteer day at the Family History Center - and nobody showed up.  Got some of my own work done, however.  Had to stay at the church after that to videotape the Relief Society broadcast for them, then I got about 3 hours before I had to go back there, set up a TV, and then run off and pick up my sister from a birthday party. It was a LONG day. I think I was at the church building for about 6 hours yesterday!

Today has not been so busy, thank goodness. I DID have church today (we watch General Conference in two weeks - I did check who got called when I woke up last night about 3am, however.) It looked like they wanted me to tape it, but the district president told me this morning that I wouldn't have to.  It would have meant sitting there at the district center for 8 hours taping the rebroadcast of the Saturday sessions today... I just woke up from a nap, instead!

My dad gets lucky - he gets to see General Conference at the Conference Center - all 5 sessions - because he's visiting Utah from overseas!

Well, got a lot to say, so I'd better start saying it.

First off, last week, I saw this quote on a newspaper clipping:

Tobin asked professors at all kinds of colleges -- public and private, secular and religious, two-year and four-year -- to rate their feelings toward various religious groups, from very warm or favorable to very cool or unfavorable. He said he designed the question primarily to gauge anti-Semitism but found that professors expressed positive feelings toward Jews, Buddhists, Roman Catholics and most other religious groups.

The only groups that elicited highly negative responses were evangelical Christians and Mormons.

Not that I'm too surprised - the two groups of people that speak out the boldest about traditional families are punished for it... that seems to be the way this country is going, unfortunately.

In other news, I've been

Certified Domestic Terrorist

Apparently, I'm in good company!

As for what's been happening with me lately, there's been a few interesting things.

Friday night, I went to a party for a friend that was leaving - it was very fun. Got to see an interesting movie - I didn't know my family had it, I'll have to watch it again soon (it's #2 on my list after this one - I've got the book on request at the library, too.)

Saturday was probably the most "blah" day so far.

Sunday I had to teach Elder's Quorum - wasn't all that bad, I had a good subject.

Monday morning I got a phone call from my district president to help someone secure their computer. The person we went to made their job easy - their antivirus program was already up to date and running regularly (some people's computers scare me in that regard...) After that, cookies were made, and a fun time was had by all.

Tuesday I was just tired most of the time - which is why I'm awake now!

Wednesday, I did a lot of programming and a few other things... Also got some car insurance stuff done so we can get the road tax paid Thursday!

Now it's time for me to take my pills and go to bed!

sleepless
(I wrote most of this about midnight - forgot to hit the post button before I went to bed!)

To get started, I just had an "Oh, so cute" moment. Why, well, [info]beepea + [info]seventyeleventy = [info]11thandhennepin... Find out there! ([info]seventyeleventy was on the spotlight on the front page today...)

Didn't have a normal April Fool's day (it IS Sunday, after all.)

I ended up getting up at about 10am. (My sleep schedule is weird. I tend to shut down at 7-9pm, wake up at 10-11pm, shut back down about 1am, then get up between 8 and 10.) Had a relaxing time getting ready for church.

Being first counselor in the elders quorum in my branch - you learn to rely on the Lord. Or you should. I know I am. I'm also learning just how far I have to go. I've had to go to the meetiongs (again) the past 4 weeks and to conduct the quorum meetings - and that last bit (and teaching occasionally and asking for assignments) is stretching my social skills - but they need stretching, I know.

I thought somebody had finished getting the sacrament ready while I was in the PEC meeting before church - I ended up finding out as we flipped the cover over to bless the water that nobody had filled the cups. OOPS. I had SUCH a red face! Maybe that's my April Fools Joke for the day. (to have played on me, not that I played on anybody.)

Other than that, church went well.

No, for me, General Conference will be in two weeks. ( @*%$!@#*(%)^@#!$& TIME ZONES! [Not that I swear, I'm just frustrated sometimes.] ) So I don't have a favorite talk, I haven't seen it yet!

The next week after that will be our district conference - I haven't heard much news about that yet. I do know that they're going to HAVE to release our district president (he's leaving the island in 2 months - he's finally retiring from the Marines.) so we'll have a General or Area Authority there.

Quote I found a few days ago:
When there is nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire...

Also joined a community that caught my eye - and considering the way I title my journal entries, [info]one_lyric REALLY fits me.

And then [info]get_medieval had her April Fools joke! I ALMOST got caught by it.

Well, gotta plan out the next week. Lots of stuff to do.

Happy birthday, [info]strryeyedgrrl! Maybe I should have this icon say "Thinking different" or something like that - it'd fit me better!

Today has just been a pretty good day. Nothing major - just went to church (had to go to meetings first... I thought I was done with those, but somebody is out of town for 6 weeks, and I'm his replacement), went home, slept, and now I'm going to type some stuff up for Dad - he's writing a YA-level story. Looks interesting so far.

Thursday and Friday were hectic, and by Saturday, I was sleeping half the time (I was getting painful on Friday - ate the WRONG thing Thursday night, I think) getting things done. I'll have to call Salt Lake tomorrow night - my brother's plane tickets have not gotten here yet! We're getting worried - we asked for the 9th!

Mom got more stuff sold at the flea market on Saturday - the pile of boxes in my room is not quite so tall now! maybe in a month or two I'll actually have room in my room for MY stuff!

Tuesday I've got a doctor's appointment (I need to call tomorrow and verify that - I've forgotten exactly when it was. I THINK it's this Tuesday at 2) and I'm helping some people out in the morning.
god, child, religion
Two things:

I went to a fun concert last night - Jericho Road came out here. I didn't think I'd like their music all that much, but I actually did. My brother (the one who speaks Japanese) was on of the two people doing the MC duties (the other being a native Japanese who knew English).

Saturday afternoon I saw an interesting newspaper article on one of my e-mail lists. This is one great kid!
books
If you've been on my journal for any length of time, you know I've been doing the song lyrics for titles thing way before Grey's Anatomy did ... maybe I inspired them? Naahhhh....

Yesterday, my sister went to the library and picked up the third Chanters of Tremaris book - unfortunately, my mom gets to read it next after my sister is done (although I could get in while my mom's reading it and finish before she got back to it...) But I'll get it eventually.

Right now I'm listening to KCJK-FM 105.1 from Kansas City... It plays most of what I happen to want! (I'd add some country stuff I like if I was programming it, but a combination of this and a good country station on my dial, and I wouldn't have to change to any others!)

I finally got released as the branch clerk Sunday - I'm supposed to start training my replacement tonight. That's a relief. (I've had two church callings for the last month and a half while they called my replacement.)

Got clothes to wash, insurance paperwork, stuff to type for Mom, my sister asking for song lyrics, taking a bath myself sometime in here... It's a busy day! *grin*
